Before the Europeans there were the Natives in Quebec

New France (1534 - 1760)
 
European countries such as Spain, England and France sent explorers to explore the New World (i.e. the Americas).  These explorers such as Samuel de Champlain and Jacques Cartier were looking for a shorter route west to Asia for trade.  They found many other natural resources (e.g. fur) and land.  To claim this land, these European countries encouraged their citizens to migrate to the New World and set up colonies.  The colonies would provide natural resources that could be traded with the European countries.
 
France set up a colony in the Americas called New France.
 
 
 
Compare the Map of New France with a map of today.  What provinces does New France cover?  You may use an atlas to help you.  Write your answer in the comment section.
